2r16 55 getting a 4.9L/ 300 inline six

by Mark Harris @, Thursday, February 25, 2016, 09:27 (603 days ago)

My motor for my 2R16 needs new life and I have 4.9L/300 ford ready to use.
Has anyone ever made this engine swap? I also have the option of the NP435 Manual transmission and the zf model that was mated to the same engine in f250 model ford trucks.
Any success anyware out there? Seems the ford six would be a decent swap for size and available torque and the available parts as a daily work and driver. Just didnt want another v8 swap of chevy or ford etc.

Either edllebrock or offenhouser intake with 600 carb and 262h cam is the plan for a little more torque and dependability.:-D [image]

Auxiliary trans above may be needed. Not sure if the huge single rear end will live with the reduction:-D

I am installing a 300-6 in my 4-E1 scotman truck. I had to move the firewall back a bit. As by chance, just got it running today. truck should be ready to drive in the spring.[image]

Hi Kevin: Can you give us some additional info on how you installed the ford 300/4.9l engine in the Studey pickup? I was thinking of putting this engine in an M series (M-16)2 ton since ford also used this engine in large dump trucks. Did you take pictures or better yet take video of the various stages of this installation? thanks
